VISION

The LEAD Center is a cutting edge, campus-wide, comprehensive leadership learning program that enables and empowers Florida State faculty, staff and students to make a difference in their scholarly/creative, campus, professional, and wider communities.

MISSION

The LEAD Center coordinates, facilitates and evaluates leadership learning opportunities on campus. Leadership learning is the continual process of an individual’s understanding, acquisition, practice, reflection, and application of leadership knowledge, skills and values.

Through leadership education and training, individuals will understand and acquire leadership knowledge, skills and values that will enable them to make a difference in their scholarly/creative, campus, professional, and wider communities.

Through leadership development and engagement, individuals will practice, reflect and apply leadership knowledge, skills and values that will empower them to make a difference in their scholarly/creative, campus, professional, and wider communities.

BELIEFS

All Florida State University students, faculty and staff have the ability to continually develop and enhance their leadership capacity through understanding, acquiring, practicing, reflecting, and applying leadership knowledge, skills and values.

Leadership is an inclusive, ethical, change process that moves a group of individuals toward a shared vision.

As a process, leadership is a relational, dynamic behavior, not a passive role based on a title or position within a group.

Leadership occurs within the contexts of individuals, partnerships, groups/teams, and communities.

Educators have the ability to influence and direct the leadership learning process through providing intentional leadership education, training, development, and engagement opportunities.
